Maxwell Technologies Showcases Engine Start Module at Mid-America Trucking Show

Maxwell Technologies Showcases Engine Start Module at Mid-America Trucking Show

Ultracapacitor solution in Class 6 to 8 trucks provides power to start trucks all the time in any weather

SAN DIEGO, March 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Maxwell Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: MXWL), a leading developer and manufacturer of ultracapacitor-based energy storage products, today announced that it will exhibit at the Mid-America Trucking Show at the Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville, March 21 to 23. The annual event provides a forum for players in the heavy-duty trucking arena to research new products and services, and interact with industry leaders. Maxwell Technologies will exhibit in booth 65153, where the company will demonstrate its ultracapacitor-based Engine Start Module, for class 4 to 8 trucks that ensures trucks start every time, regardless of conditions.

Rugged, lightweight and maintenance-free, Maxwell's Engine Start Module is a group 31 form factor that delivers the quick-burst power big engines need to crank in extreme weather, down to -40 degrees Celsius. The ultracapacitor module, which is being evaluated by more than 20 truck fleets, delivers power for hundreds of thousands reliable starts, and in most cases, will outlast the vehicle itself. Other features include easy installation, overall system power performance and lead acid battery life extension, leading to low total cost of ownership, improved driver safety and on-time delivery results.

"For trucking professionals who work in freezing weather, run hotel loads on batteries, or sit in line at weigh stations with anti-idle laws, the limitations of batteries for cranking power are all-too familiar," said Dennis Flynn, director of market research and brand communications at Maxwell Technologies. "Preparing for these challenges sets trucking pros apart from their competition, and the Engine Start Module we'll share at the Mid-America Trucking Show arms operators with power to spare."
