SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/01/13 -- QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ: QUIK), the innovator in low power Customer Specific Standard Products (CSSPs), today announced that its CTO, Dr. Timothy Saxe, will give a presentation entitled "Power is the Hidden Cost of Flexibility" at the Linley Tech Mobile Conference on April 18th in Santa Clara. This two-day, single-track conference features technical presentations addressing design issues for mobile devices such as tablet computers, smartphones, navigation devices, media players, handheld games and e-book readers.

Typically a discussion about power challenges in mobile devices focuses on the power consumption of bigger, better screens and quad- or octal-core processors. Dr. Saxe will discuss the trade-offs of power versus flexibility in the less visible parts of the system. In particular the use of processors has been driven by applications where their flexibility can create tremendous value that justifies a slightly larger battery. The flexibility of processors also allows them to solve non-application problems such as sensor data acquisition. While some tasks can be done with software, this approach is not necessarily the best way. QuickLogic will show how an all-hardware solution can reduce power consumption by a factor of 10 in a task such as sensor data acquisition.

The QuickLogic presentation will be given during Session 5 of the conference, which is focused on power-optimized design. See the following for time and location details.

Location:
The Hyatt Regency Santa Clara, 5101 Great America Parkway, Santa Clara

Time:
Thursday, April 18, Session 5 from 1:45-4:45 p.m., PDT
Note: Dr. Saxe's presentation will begin at approximately 2:40 p.m.
