TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 04/15/13 -- BMO will host a media conference call on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 to discuss a variety of issues related to financial literacy among young Canadians. The discussion comes in advance of the inaugural Talk With Our Kids About Money Day - a new financial literacy program being launched by The Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (CFEE) in partnership with BMO Financial Group. The findings from a new BMO study on the topic will also be revealed.

The Talk With Our Kids About Money Day program, to be launched on April 17, 2013, is designed to help young Canadians learn more about money and personal finances. The initiative features both a "Home Program" for families and a "School Program" for students and teachers.

The conference call will include experts from BMO and CFEE - including BMO's L. Jacques Menard, Vice-Chair of the Task Force on Financial Literacy - as well as Alyson Schafer, best-selling author and one of Canada's leading parenting experts.

The panel will provide insights into the following topics:

-- Canadians' attitudes towards the importance of financial literacy
-- Challenges and opportunities around financial education
-- Why it is significant to begin learning about money at a young age
-- What needs to be done to improve financial literacy among youth, and how
parents, schools, governments, financial institutions and other

the steps parents can to take to ensure their children become successful
