Help Every Pet Find a Forever Home by Adopting at PetSmart Charities(R) National Adoption Weekend, May 3-5

TORONTO -- (Marketwired) -- 04/22/13 -- For the many Canadians considering adding a pet to the family this year, adoption can be a great option. Not only to find a new addition for their home, but to save the life of a homeless pet in need. From May 3-5, your local PetSmart® store will host a PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend to help pets find forever homes.

Sponsored by PetSmart, Purina® Pro Plan® and MAXX Scoop®, National Adoption Weekend invites more than 126 adoption partners to every PetSmart store across Canada to match you with your perfect pet.

"In 2012, more than 2,600 pets were adopted through the National Adoption Weekends in collaboration with local adoption partners," said John DeFranco, President of PetSmart Charities of Canada, Inc. "We are excited to continue that momentum this year to help pets find loving families with support from PetSmart Canada."

Not only will adopting change a homeless pet's life, but PetSmart Charities of Canada will also reward all participating local adoption partners; each will receive $35 in adoption-reward grants for every pet adopted at this event.

How to Adopt
During National Adoption Weekend, visit the PetSmart Charities of Canada's adoption centre inside any PetSmart store in Canada from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 5.
