KB Home (NYSE: KBH), one of the nation’s largest and most recognized
homebuilders, today released its sixth annual Sustainability Report,
available exclusively at www.kbhome.com/sustainability.
KB Home is the only national homebuilder to publish a comprehensive
annual sustainability report and has been doing so since 2008.
The latest report provides highlights from and results of KB Home’s
sustainability initiatives and activities throughout the year including
achievements like delivering the company’s 1,000th solar
home, opening new ZeroHouse 2.0 model homes, and introducing new
water-efficient standard products. It also provides a look forward with
goals set for the coming year in the homebuilder’s four key areas of
focus: Energy Efficiency and Building Science Innovation, Water
Efficiency and Conservation, Consumer Benefits and Awareness, and Waste
Reduction.
“KB Home is proud to issue our sixth Sustainability Report on Earth Day
2013,” said Jeffrey Mezger, president and chief executive officer of KB
Home. “As we have made a conscious effort to make our homes better for
the benefit of both our planet and our homebuyers, every day at KB Home
is Earth Day. The energy- and water-efficient homes we are building
today in all of our communities nationwide have tremendous money- and
resource-saving advantages that our homebuyers can enjoy for years to
come.”
Details of KB Home’s sustainability goals, achievements and challenges
can be found in the 2012 KB Home Sustainability Report, which can now be
accessed on the company’s website at www.kbhome.com/sustainability.
In developing the report, KB Home once again followed the Global
Reporting Initiative Guidelines, which provide a widely recognized level
of accountability and transparency, and are considered by many
environmental experts to be the current international standard for
sustainability reporting.
