The Jefferson Awards for Public Service are a prestigious national recognition system honoring community and public service in America at both the national and local level. The organization was founded in 1972 by Senator Robert Taft Jr., Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Sam Beard to create a Nobel Prize for public service. Today the organization's primary purpose is to emphasize a "Call to Action for Volunteers" in local communities.

WSFS was anonymously nominated for the award and WSFS President and Chief Executive Officer, Mark A. Turner, accepted the award on behalf of the bank. Mr. Turner said, "We are extremely humbled and honored to be recognized with the Jefferson Award. WSFS' Mission is 'We Stand For Service' and that service is applied directly into the many homes, schools, hospitals, service agencies and other worthy causes, thanks to the hundreds of WSFS Associates that volunteer their time and energy with a heartfelt passion for making a positive impact in our communities."
