New York City, New York -- (April 26, 2013)
China’s rapid expansion over the years has boosted demand for industrial metals, as well as steel iron. In fact, the bull’s run seen in commodities over the past decade can be attributed mainly to China’s huge appetite for raw materials. However, since last year, the world’s second largest economy has shown signs of slowing down. While concerns of a hard landing have eased, China is not expected to grow at the same pace it did between 2000 and 2010. This will have a negative impact on demand for industrial metals, and steel and iron. The key for companies in the basic materials sector will be to adapt to the changing market dynamics. The basic materials sector rose 0.78% on Thursday, tracking gains in the broad market. Among the major movers in the sector were ArcelorMittal (NYSE: MT), Nucor Corporation (NYSE: NUE), CONSOL Energy Inc. (NYSE: CNX), Paramount Gold and Silver Corp. (NYSEAMEX: PZG), and BHP Billiton Plc (NYSE: BBL). StockCall has taken an interest in these companies and you can now sign up to download the free technical research on MT, NUE, CNX, PZG, and BBL at
