INTEGRIS Health and athenahealth Partner to Improve Care Coordination and Better Manage Network of Providers

athenahealth's Cloud-Based Services to Help Health System Gain Control of Billing, Patient Communication and Provider Productivity; Improved Insight Into Care Will Drive Meaningful Action and Change

WATERTOWN, Mass., May 15, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- athenahealth, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATHN), a leading provider of cloud-based services for electronic health record (EHR), practice management, and care coordination, today announced that INTEGRIS Health, Oklahoma's largest health care system, will use athenahealth's cloud-based services to centralize revenue cycle management, enhance patient communications and care coordination, and gain better insight into provider productivity and care delivered across INTEGRIS's growing patient population. INTEGRIS will deploy athenaCollector®, athenaCommunicator®, and athenaClaritySM.

As a fast-growing health system with more than 300 physicians across 11 hospital facilities and nearly 100 clinics, INTEGRIS needed an information infrastructure and set of supportive services that could help the health system align its operational processes running across multi-vendor systems and disparate locations. Through its work with athenahealth, INTEGRIS will move from a decentralized billing and IT infrastructure to a uniform structure and set of processes that will help the group to scale, achieve greater ROI and better track and collect on claims.

"We did our homework in terms of qualifying a potential partner that could appreciate our culture and vision, support our growth, and help bring our operations and high-standard of care to the next level. We also sought a partner who could help us not only navigate, but thrive in the face of emerging quality-based payment models," said Bruce Lawrence, CEO, INTEGRIS Health. "Partnering with athenahealth was a deliberate decision. Their cloud-based platform is incredibly nimble, and they are unique experts; they track the complex and always-changing landscape of health care and use this knowledge to ensure clients do well. We're confident this partnership will lead to more streamlined business processes, but what's most exciting is that we're confident it will help us better serve our growing community of patients."

As part of its work with athenahealth, INTEGRIS will enhance patient scheduling, making it easy for patients to manage office visits and communication with the health system between visits and simplify coordination between primary and specialty care. INTEGRIS will also gain unique and highly valuable insight into provider productivity and care activity across its many locations; this will allow the health system to evaluate services delivered against a uniform set of metrics. Additionally, this comprehensive insight will position INTEGRIS to perform in line with, and effectively report against, a variety of quality-based reporting and payment models.

Jonathan Bush, chairman and CEO, athenahealth, added: "Caregivers used to be the master of their own island-like payment system; they kept track of claims that went out and money that came back. Now, with pay-for-performance and global contracts emerging, caregivers are responsible for understanding and managing spend beyond their island. INTEGRIS, like many other teams of caregivers, needs to be able to track and manage its network of caregivers, across locations and across systems. athenaClarity is the service that will enable INTEGRIS to thrive under new models of revenue by making data accessible and actionable."
