ViewCast to Demonstrate Embedded Closed Captioning in Booth #219 at Streaming Media East

Latest Portable System Includes New Osprey Audio Input Card

PLANO, Texas, May 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- ViewCast Corporation (OTCBB: VCST) will have a live demonstration of CEA-708 closed captioning, a new Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandate for IP-delivered content, using the new GoStream® portable streaming system in Booth #219 at Streaming Media East, May 21-22 at the Hilton New York. ViewCast, a developer of industry-leading solutions that enable companies to capture and deliver video to broadband and mobile networks, will perform the demonstration using Ustream, one of the first content delivery networks (CDN) to support live CEA-708 closed captioning from end to end. CEA-708 is the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) standard for closed captioning for digital television.

Latest Software Enables Closed Captioning

Version 7.2 of Niagara SCX® video streaming software supports embedded CEA-708 closed captioning for specific encoders on Niagara HD systems. The new GoStream portable system, loaded with Niagara SCX version 7.2, will use the Osprey 820e capture card and the new Osprey 800 series audio card in the demonstration.

The Osprey 800 series audio card offers additional external audio inputs such as balanced, unbalanced and AES/EBU. The audio card will be available soon at a competitive price.

Reinhardt to Review Niagara GoStream Portable

Robert Reinhardt, creator of videoRx.com, will give a "hands on" review of the GoStream portable at a pre-conference seminar "How To: Evaluating the Effectiveness Of Your H.264 Encoder," Tuesday, May 21 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Reinhardt is internationally regarded as an expert on multimedia application development and online video, particularly in HTML, iOS, Flash and AVC/H.264.

Following in the footsteps of the successful Niagara 9100 series, the new portable platform will be able to accommodate a wide variety of Osprey capture cards featuring high performance at very competitive prices.

Additional Demonstrations

Other demonstrations in the booth, sponsored by Graphics Distribution Incorporated, will include Osprey Preview software that provides common functionality for all Osprey drivers. NextComputing, a manufacturer of high-performance computing platforms, will demonstrate the Osprey 800e series cards with VMix software on its mobile platform.
