Lockheed Martin Expands Cloud Computing Services For UK Government

ROCKVILLE, Md., May 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) UK has expanded its range of cloud computing services available to government customers to include IT service integration and management, known as SIAM in the UK.

SIAM enables UK government departments to deliver seamless, end-to-end IT services in a multi-vendor sourcing model. To effectively manage the multi-vendor environment, SIAM is often required to provide architecture design support, service desk implementation and rigorous reporting of management information related to the service. Lockheed Martin UK offers these services through the G-Cloud 3 framework agreement, which succeeds the previous G-Cloud 2 program.

"We are applying our strong cyber security expertise to ensure secure cloud computing and help governments realize cost-savings and efficiencies from the use of advanced technologies," said Vicki Schmanske, vice president of information technology and security solutions for Lockheed Martin's Information Systems & Global Solutions. "Our inclusion in G-Cloud 3 will strengthen the corporation's IT service activities across the broader UK public sector."

The company will support G-Cloud 3 through its Solutions-as-a-Service (SolaS®) secure cloud delivery platform. This mission-focused approach to cloud computing combines best-in-industry partnerships, IT domain expertise and advanced technology and innovation to deliver private, community and hybrid cloud offerings for many U.S. and international customers. SolaS offers government organizations the opportunity to outsource computing and storage, e-mail and collaboration, cloud strategy and integration; cyber security; green IT and energy optimization; cloud brokering; virtualization consulting; and virtual desktop infrastructure for delivery of critical managed IT services.

A thought leader in cloud computing, Lockheed Martin has been very involved in shaping standards across the industry. As a government cloud provider, Lockheed Martin will be among the first companies, in the U.S., to receive FedRAMP authorization this spring for its SolaS Secure Community Cloud solution. This will validate Lockheed Martin's strong cloud security practices and reassure federal agencies as they move to the cloud. Lockheed Martin is the leading provider of IT services to the U.S. federal government and in the UK, Lockheed Martin was the IT prime contractor for the 2011 Census.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin is a global security and aerospace company that employs about 118,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration, and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products, and services. The Corporation's net sales for 2012 were $47.2 billion.
