Pethealth Donates Over $19,000 in First Quarter of 2013 Through the International Campaign, "Recover a Pet, Uncover a Cure"
OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 27, 2013) - (TSX:PTZ) Pethealth Inc. ("Pethealth" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that its "Recover a Pet, Uncover a Cure" campaign generated donations of $19,209 during the Company's first quarter ending March 31st. A donation was made to the American Breast Cancer Foundation ("ABCF") honoring the agreement signed with the non-profit organization in January 2012 and renewed in January 2013. Through similar agreements signed with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Ontario Chapter ("CBCF") and the Pink Ribbon Foundation in March 2012 and renewed in March 2013, a portion of the purchase price of every MiniChip sold in Canada and the United Kingdom will be donated annually. To date the campaign has generated donations of over $75,000 since its initial launch in January 2012.
"Within little over a year, the campaign has grown to become internationally recognized through agreements signed with the American Breast Cancer Foundation, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Ontario Chapter and the Pink Ribbon Foundation," said Mark Warren. "This campaign, benefiting pet owners and their families, draws attention to a worthy cause while leveraging the strong bond between owner and pet. I am very pleased with the response we have received thus far; we have witnessed a rise in MiniChip sales, as animal welfare organizations and veterinary clinics alike leverage the power of the company`s message."
Leveraging the colour pink, which is internationally associated with breast health and cancer research, the MiniChip injection unit and packaging were produced in pink, exclusively for Pethealth by Allflex. The MiniChip is an innovative new microchip identification technology suitable for all companion animals but designed for small animals such as cats, kittens, puppies and small breed dogs. At one third the size of standard microchip technology, it offers a far less invasive form of permanent identification with all the same lost pet recovery benefits.
