Bay Banks of Virginia Announces Director And Officer Elections

Bay Banks of Virginia Announces Director And Officer Elections

KILMARNOCK, Va., May 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Bay Banks of Virginia, Inc. (OTCQB: BAYK), holding company for Bank of Lancaster and Bay Trust Company, held its Annual Stockholders Meeting on Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Company's corporate headquarters in Kilmarnock, Virginia.

Bay Banks President and Chief Executive Officer Randal R. Greene reports that C. Dwight Clarke was elected to the Bay Banks Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting.  Clarke replaces Robert C. Berry, Jr., who retired from the Board effective the same date.  Also at the meeting Robert F. Hurliman and Elizabeth H. Crowther were re-elected to the Bay Banks Board.  Clarke, Hurliman and Crowther will each serve a three-year term.

Greene also reports that Douglas F. Jenkins was recently elected by the Bay Banks Board to serve as Vice President of Bay Banks of Virginia.

Clarke has been a Director of Bank of Lancaster since April 2007.  He also served as a member of the Bank's Lancaster/Middlesex Community Board prior to joining the Bank's Board.

Clarke received his B.S. degree in Accounting in 1985 from Virginia Tech.  He is a Partner and Certified Public Accountant of Dehnert, Clarke & Co., P.C., an accounting firm located in Irvington, Virginia.   He has been associated with the firm since 1985 and a partner since June 1990.  Clarke is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Virginia Society of CPAs.

Active in his community, Clarke is a member and past President and Treasurer of the Kilmarnock-Irvington-White Stone Rotary Club; and he is a Board member and Treasurer of The Tidewater Foundation.  He is a past Board member and Treasurer for both the Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce and the Lancaster County Community Library.  He is a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock.

Clarke and his wife, Cindy, reside in White Stone with their three children:  William, age 14; Rachel, age 11; and Harris, age 9.

Jenkins joined the Bank in April 2006 and is currently serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer.  During his tenure, Jenkins has been the Senior Lending Officer responsible for supervising all lending areas of the Bank – residential, consumer and commercial.  He has also been the Retail Delivery Administrator with leadership of the Bank's nine branch offices and retail delivery team.  In December of 2012, Jenkins was elected by the Bank's Board to the office of Executive Vice President; and as a part of an internal restructuring, Jenkins recently gave up day to day responsibility for Retail and assumed the role of the Bank's Chief Lending Officer.

Prior to joining Bank of Lancaster, Jenkins was Vice President and Client Manager for the Financial Institutions Group of SunTrust Bank in Richmond, Virginia.  Jenkins has 28 years of banking experience, having started his banking career with United Virginia Bank in 1985.

A native of Westmoreland County, Jenkins graduated from Washington & Lee High School in 1978.   In 1982, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce.

Active in his community and his industry, Jenkins says he feels extremely fortunate to work for an organization that promotes community involvement.  He is a member and past President of the Warsaw Rotary Club.  He is a Deacon and Trustee of Menokin Baptist Church in Warsaw.  He is also a past Board member of the Richmond/Westmoreland Habitat for Humanity and a past Director of the Virginia Association of Community Banks.

Jenkins and his wife, Aime, reside in Warsaw.  They have a daughter, Afton, who is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington and now works and resides in Fredericksburg.

In making these announcements, Greene stated, "We wish to thank Bob Berry for his years of service.  Bob joined the Bay Banks Board in May of 2004, and he has brought valuable counsel to our organization.   Bob will continue to serve on the Board of Bay Trust Company.    We are pleased to welcome Dwight Clarke to the Holding Company Board.  Dwight is a Director of our Bank's Board, and we now look forward to his guidance and valuable contributions to both the Bank and Bay Banks Boards.   I cannot say enough about the value Doug Jenkins brings to our entire organization.  He is the epitome of a community banker; and his knowledge of banking, his professionalism and his character make him a valuable part of our Bay Banks' team.   As I reported at the Annual Meeting, our Directors and our management team are energized and motivated; they are some of the best people I have ever worked with and it gives me a great deal of pleasure to announce these new roles Dwight and Doug will hold in our organization.   I am excited about the future of Bay Banks, Bank of Lancaster and Bay Trust Company."
