GAMCO Investors, Inc. (NYSE:GBL) announced today that Scott A. Long has joined the firm as Chief Administrative Officer, a newly created position.

“Scott has an excellent background within the asset management industry as an innovator within investment and finance operations whose purpose and mission have been to frame operational rigor and competence for the firms he and his teams supported. With his over three decades of experience and knowledge of the overall investment process our firm will be well served, particularly in driving our firms operating environment to continue to serve our diverse clients in a world class manner,” said Mario J. Gabelli, CEO of GAMCO.

Scott A. Long most recently was the Director of Operations and Treasury for Diamondback Advisors. He has an extensive leadership background having been previously the Head of Operations at the Blackstone Group’s fund of hedge fund business; and the Head of Global Operations at Nicholas Applegate. He holds a B.A. in Biology from Northwestern College.
