Franklin Covey Co. and Rainbow Station, Inc. Launch The Leader in Me, a Whole School, Education Transformation Process, Based on The 7 Habits, in First Preschool in China
Franklin
Covey Co. (NYSE: FC) and Rainbow
Station, Inc. announced today they have launched The
Leader in Me®, Franklin Covey’s whole school,
education transformation process, based on The
7 Habits of Highly Effective People, in the first preschool
in Shenzhen, China (www.TheLeaderinMe.org).
Franklin Covey has granted Rainbow Station licensing rights to implement
and deliver The Leader in Me within Rainbow Station’s Chinese and
U.S. private preschools, which include school-aged recreation programs
and care facilities for mildly ill children.
Working with its Chinese partner, Rainbow Station, the early education
company opened its first location in Shenzhen, China earlier this year.
That school is now implementing The Leader in Me process and is the
first of 110 preschools that Rainbow Station expects to open in China
over the next five years, which will also implement the process.
Currently, there are more than 1,300 schools with nearly 600,000
students and 50,000 school staff who have been trained in Franklin
Covey’s The Leader in Me process throughout the world. Rainbow
Station currently has ten U.S. preschools, besides the one in China, and
was the first preschool system to implement The Leader in Me.
Sean
Covey, author of The
7 Habits of Happy Kids, The
7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, and Executive Vice President
and Education Practice Leader, Franklin Covey, said, “We are so pleased
to extend our relationship with Rainbow Station as one of our partners,
to bring The Leader in Me process to their preschools in China. Their
students will experience an inspiring school culture and will develop
the necessary skills to meet the challenges they will face as future
leaders. They will also achieve the extraordinary results we have seen
in so many schools across the globe, transforming and impacting the
lives of students, teachers, parents, and communities throughout China.”
Gail Johnson, Founder and CEO of Rainbow Station, said, “Rainbow Station
is pleased to partner with Franklin Covey to implement The Leader in Me
process in our preschools in China. We are honored to add this process,
which features content from the world-renowned 7 Habits of Highly
Effective People, to our school program offerings. We have seen the
remarkable difference it has made in our preschools in the United States
and know that it will also transform the lives of students and their
families in China.”
The Leader in Me is a whole school, education transformation
process which emphasizes leadership skills development and creates a
culture of student empowerment. Included, is content from The
7 Habits of Highly Effective People, authored by Stephen
Covey, which inspires young students at elementary schools to
develop the skills and self-confidence to lead their lives and succeed
in the 21st century.
Also included in the process, are principles from Stephen Covey’s book, The
Leader in Me: How Schools and Parents Around the
World are Inspiring Greatness, One Child at a Time. The book
chronicles how exceptional elementary schools are teaching elementary
school-aged children the same leadership principles that have guided
corporate boardroom and government decision making for years.
The Leader in Me process continues to receive noteworthy praise from
administrators, staff, parents, and students. It produces extraordinary
results and has a significant impact on the lives of children of all
ages, socio-economic levels, learning capacities, and cultural
backgrounds.
Rainbow Station is uniquely positioned to expand into China and build on
its experience delivering The Leader in Me process in its American
preschools. Rainbow Station’s "Learn early. Live well. Lead.” philosophy
instills 21st century skills such as compassion and
responsibility that will transform each child’s life in and out of
school and long after they have completed their academic careers. It is
a commitment to transforming children’s lives, not just their schooling.
Rainbow Station is included in the elite six percent of child care
centers and preschools to meet the National Association for the
Education of Young Children accreditation standards. With more than 13
million children under the age of six enrolled, child care is one of the
fasted-growing industries in the U.S. The need for high-quality
childcare and education is a large part of the demand.
Paul Pan, CEO of Rainbow Station-China, said, “We are delighted to have
Franklin Covey as our partner as we are committed to providing education
solutions of the highest quality in our schools. The Leader in Me process,
with its principle-centered approach and emphasis on 21st
century life skills, is a significant addition to our current program
offerings. We are confident this will have a significant impact on the
education of children in China.”
