PALM BEACH, FL, July 1, 2013 - (eTeligis via ACCESSWIRE) -- Global Digital Solutions, Inc. (OTC Pink: GDSI), a company that is positioning itself as a leader in providing knowledge-based and culturally attuned social consulting and security-related solutions in unsettled areas, announced today that United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division, has set August 7, 2013, as the confirmation hearing date for Airtronic USA, Inc.'s ("Airtronic") Amended Plan of Reorganization ("Plan") expected to be filed with the court by July 3, 2013.
"Setting this date for the confirmation hearing is a key step in the merger process," said GDSI's founder and largest shareholder, Richard J. Sullivan, who will become Chairman and CEO of GDSI after the acquisition with Airtronic is completed. "If the court confirms Airtronic's Plan, Airtronic will be able emerge from chapter 11 with a strong balance sheet featuring adequate working capital. We look forward to moving ahead with the completion of the merger process with deliberate speed."
On August 20, 2012, GDSI and Airtronic announced that they had signed a letter of intent to enter into good faith discussions involving a potential strategic combination in which Airtronic would be acquired by GDSI. "We're very pleased that a date has been set for the confirmation hearing," said Dr. Merriellyn Kett, Airtronic's President and CEO who will continue serving as the company's CEO after the merger between GDSI and Airtronic is finalized. "If the Plan is confirmed, as we hope it will be, this will be a major step forward in our global growth strategy. We're extremely confident about our growth prospects, as was evident with our recent announcement that Airtronic has become an OEM supplier to a major defense contractor for our family of M203 grenade launchers and that we have received the first of many expected orders."
