Leave the Computer at the Office this Summer Friday with Carbonite Currents

Leave the Computer at the Office this Summer Friday with Carbonite Currents

BOSTON, July 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The logistics of working remotely can be a literal pain in the neck. The American Chiropractic Association advises people against carrying bags that weigh more than 10 percent of their body weight*. But the laptops, mobile devices, water bottles and umbrellas that are toted from home to the office quickly add up, causing back, shoulder and neck pain. Carbonite – the official sponsor of Summer Fridays – is easing the upper body tension and lightening the load of the working professional with the Ultra Summer Office contest.

During the month of July, people can visit the Carbonite Facebook page and enter to win an ultrabook courtesy of Staples, plus three years of Carbonite cloud backup by casting their vote for which spot is their "Ultra Summer Office": the pool, an outdoor café, or the backyard. The new ultrabook, combined with the new Carbonite Currents app, will allow the winner to leave their heavy laptop at home, but still have access to their most recent files.

Currents is a free file syncing, sharing and collaboration application available for Mac, PC, iOS and Android devices that works as a recent files list across all of your devices. Any new or changed files from the last 30 days are available in your Currents list, whether you're on your desktop computer, typing on a laptop poolside, or using your tablet or smartphone to access files on the go. Any changes you make to a file are synced back to its original location.

Currents also helps small groups keep track of shared documents with its sharing and commenting features. Now, all members of the group have the most recent version of a file, taking away the stress of digging through emails and comparing two versions of a document side by side to see changes. And if you're reviewing changes from a coworker but don't like the edits, you can easily revert back to the previous version and leave a comment on the document explaining why their changes were not added, all from the app.

Love the idea of accessing your files remotely with Currents but your office doesn't have Summer Fridays? Carbonite Cloud Libs will generate a letter to your boss explaining how easy it is to work remotely with Carbonite's cloud solutions—whether you're out on a sales call or lounging on the back deck.
