OSHA Recognizes Cintas Distribution Center in Scranton, PA with Highest Safety Designation
Cintas
Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS) announced today that its Distribution
Center (DC) in Scranton, PA has received Voluntary Protection Program
(VPP) Star certification from the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA). VPP is OSHA’s highest recognition for the
practice of and commitment to exemplary occupational safety and health.
“As we went through the process, I could see the employee-partners
incorporate safety into everything they do and challenge each other to
become better,” said Ryan Coleman, DC Manager. “That is why we achieved
this great honor and that is why I know we will continue to strive to
improve our program each day,” he added.
The Cintas Distribution Center in Scranton becomes first federal site in
the Global Supply Chain Division, the fourth DC and the 11th
Cintas location nationwide to achieve this recognition.
The facility celebrated the honor with a ceremony held today and
attended by Cintas executives, OSHA representatives, Sen. John Blake
(D-PA) and Rep. Frank Farina (D-PA), who watched as the facility’s 90
employee-partners proudly raised the VPP flag.
The Scranton site began the VPP certification process in May of 2011.
The designation required rigorous monthly audits and close collaboration
between management and employee-partners as the facility committed to an
environment of continuous safety improvement.
“This award would not have been possible without the full safety
engagement of all of our Scranton partners. World Class Safety only
happens when it’s embraced by every partner,” said Dave Wheeler, Senior
Vice President, Global Supply Chain.
Cintas Corporation has approximately 350 facilities throughout the world
actively pursuing VPP recognition by OSHA or the equivalent under a
similar certifying body. This includes operations in the U.S., Canada,
the United Kingdom, Mexico and Honduras.
