American Eagle Outfitters Opens First Corporate Office in San Francisco to Support Focus on Technological Innovation, Talent and Progressive Omni-Channel Design

American Eagle Outfitters (NYSE: AEO) today announced the opening of its first corporate office in San Francisco, CA. The office, located at 49 Stevenson Street, will function as a progressive technology center dedicated to supporting AEO’s engineers, designers and digital marketing teams to reinforce the company’s omni-channel strategy, focused on creating a seamless, personalized consumer shopping experience across all purchasing channels.

Joe Megibow, Senior Vice President/General Manager of Omni-Channel eCommerce and head of the San Francisco office said, “We are investing heavily in the top talent San Francisco and the Bay Area has to offer and recognize the strategic value of being close to our technology partners in the area. We try to put the customer at the center of everything we do, and are committed to leveraging best-in-class technology that provides our customers with a superior shopping experience now and in the years to come.”

The nearly 10,000 square-foot San Francisco office will serve as a home base for more than a dozen AEO leaders, and is hiring as many as 100 new employees over the next 12 months; with room for even further growth as AEO continues to focus on technology and omni-channel innovations.

“Retail is a vital component to the San Francisco economy, providing a significant number of jobs for our residents, and American Eagle Outfitters recognizes the importance of doing business in San Francisco and the talent of our City’s workforce,” said Mayor Edwin Lee. “This new American Eagle Outfitters corporate technology center recognizes that San Francisco is the Innovation Capital of the World, and will provide an improved retail experience for all store customers.”

In addition, AEO has announced its participation in San Francisco Mayor Lee’s Summer Jobs+ 2013 initiative to create 6,000 jobs and paid internships for area youth this summer, with several associates at the AEO’s Market Street store location coming from the program.

Mayor Lee will celebrate AEO’s new office opening with AEO executives, the new summer associates, and community officials at an event taking place today at 4:30pm PST at the AEO Market Street store in the Westfield Shopping Center.

Megibow concluded, “Our commitment to social responsibility is an integral component of our culture. To date, AEO and our Foundation have contributed millions of dollars to charitable causes, with particular focus on issues most relevant to our customers and us: the environment, youth empowerment and education and young women’s health. With our growing presence in San Francisco, we look forward to expanding our community involvement in the Bay Area.”
