Recent forecasts for cooler weather across the U.S. sent natural gas prices sliding Monday. Prices dropped by as much as 4 percent to a low of $3.413 per million British thermal units, which was lowest seen since early March. MDA, a private forecaster, in their recent six- to 10-day forecast stated that cooler than normal temperatures had "intensified from the Plains through the Midwest and East.” In New York, the high temperature on August 6th could reach 73 degrees Fahrenheit (23 Celsius), which is 11 degrees below average, according to data from AccuWeather Inc.

Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE: CHK) shares traded in the range of $22.61 to $22.83 Monday before settling to close at $22.75, a decrease of 0.44 percent. The stock appears to have some support at the $22.57, $21.47 and $21.10 levels. Shares of Chesapeake Energy have gained approximately 37.0 percent year-to-date.
