GNYHA Services Selects Constellation as Authorized Electricity Supplier

EXC

Constellation today announced it has been selected by GNYHA Services, Inc., an acute care group purchasing organization and supply chain management company, as an authorized supplier of electricity within its regional group purchasing program.

The three-year agreement between Constellation NewEnergy, Inc. and GNYHA Services, Inc. will allow more than 180 hospitals and 900 non-acute care facilities in New York State to aggregate power requirements and obtain pricing that is based on competitive bids in New York’s wholesale power supply market.

Today, it’s common for many hospitals and non-acute care facilities to shop for power supply individually. This new agreement allows Constellation to combine members’ energy block purchases ─ for example, the combined electricity requirements of six or more hospitals ─ into a single, larger purchase in order to access the power supply market and obtain competitive bids for the single, larger volume. The bid pricing will be derived from wholesale solicitations sourced by Constellation.

While lower prices can never be guaranteed, Constellation’s unique program affords customers in the larger buying pool the opportunity to review bids derived from wholesale price offers.

Under terms of the agreement, Constellation will solicit bids for the combined volume of the GNYHA Services members who join the program. Participants will then receive from Constellation the lowest bid price for their specified contract term.

“We have an excellent track record of delivering value, low prices and supplier discounts to members by taking advantage of scale and our ability to procure products and services in large volumes,” said David M. Zimba, vice president, custom contracting, strategic contracting services, GNYHA Services “What’s unique about our agreement with Constellation is the ability for members who choose to participate to seek the most competitive power supply prices.”

“We’re constantly looking for ways to provide greater value to the customers we serve through our association relationships,” said Ed Wilson, vice president, association sales, Constellation. “This agreement offers GNYHA Services members and affiliates the ability to take advantage of the benefits of aggregation and the highly competitive prices in the power supply market, while still preserving the ability to customize their individual energy supply strategy.”

Participating hospitals and non-acute care facilities will receive monthly statements of power purchases and budget performance through Constellation’s innovative i2i energy management program. The i2i reports include forecasts of power usage and costs, comparisons of forecasted and actual purchases and variance analyses.
