Third Annual B Strong Ride Ready To Roll August 10th

HAIN

Proceeds Benefit Boulder Community Hospital Center for Integrative Care and George Karl Foundation

Boulder, CO - August 1, 2013 - The third annual Celestial Seasonings B Strong Ride presented by Subaru is expected to take more than 800 cyclists on three routes through Boulder County on Saturday, August 10th.  The event is a fundraiser for Boulder and Denver area cancer care, including Boulder Community Hospital Center for Integrative Care and the George Karl Foundation.

At last year's B Strong Ride, Dominic Scrivner was bald, his hair a victim of a four-cycle, 21-day-per-cycle chemotherapy protocol for stage three testicular cancer. Despite this, Dominic was the highest contributing individual donor and top fundraiser.  Just weeks before the 2012 ride, Scrivner wrote, "Hopefully, my final treatment is July 30th. This ride will, without a doubt, be difficult for me a mere 12 days after chemo, but I feel compelled to do what I can for the multitudes of people affected with cancer that need financial, spiritual and psychological support. The beneficiaries of B Strong are the perfect organizations to supply these resources for people afflicted with cancer."  It took everything he had, but Dominic completed the 24-mile course.

"Dominic's story is just one example of the passion and perseverance that embodies the B Strong event, and it's people like him that we're so happy to support through this important annual fundraiser," said B Strong Ride Event Director Paul Balaguer.

This year's ride features three route options starting and finishing at Celestial Seasonings Boulder headquarters:

  • Mountain Loop - 69 miles through the mountains north and west of Boulder
  • Countryside Loop - 24 miles through rolling terrain north of Boulder
  • Mini B - One mile loop on the Celestial Seasonings campus for children 10 and under

All participants will be able to enjoy an outstanding lineup of live musical entertainment throughout the day at Celestial Seasonings, including two sets by the Hazel Miller Band.

Registration fees:

  • $95 for adults (groups of four or more riders receive a discount at $80 per person.)
  • $55 for students and riders under 18 years old
  • $10 for "Mini B" kids' ride registration.

To register or donate, visit bstrongride.com through Wednesday, August 7th, or register on site at Celestial Seasonings the day of the event.

"The annual B Strong Ride has quickly become one of our favorite ways to give back to our community," said Peter Burns, President of Celestial Seasonings.
