AeroVironment,
Inc. (NASDAQ:AVAV) today announced that Douglas E. Scott has joined
the company as senior vice president and general counsel.
Scott comes to AeroVironment with nearly 20 years of experience leading
the legal department of SAIC, Inc., a diversified Fortune 500 company
that provides high-technology services and solutions in the national
security, engineering, health, energy and environmental markets. Most
recently, he served as SAIC’s corporate secretary, supporting SAIC’s
board of directors and the corporation’s governance.

legal department to support a complex and rapidly scaling business. His
diverse legal expertise and experiences will be invaluable as
AeroVironment continues to execute on its strategic plan to create

Scott’s legal experience includes government contracts, a wide range of
international matters, intellectual property, mergers, acquisitions,
divestitures and strategic transactions, litigation, and employment
issues. As an SAIC executive, his scope of responsibilities included
managing internal audit, and ethics and compliance departments.
Prior to earning his juris doctor degree from the University of
California at Los Angeles in 1984, Scott received a master of business
administration degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
in 1981 and is a certified public accountant. He was a Phi Beta Kappa
and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in
economics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1979.
