Winners of the Fourth Edition of National Bank's Women in Financial Markets Scholarship Program

MONTREAL, Aug. 9, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - National Bank is pleased to announce this year's winners of its Women in Financial Markets Scholarship, now in its fourth year. At a reception to honour the recipients, Ricardo Pascoe, Co-President and Co-Chief Executive Officer of National Bank Financial and Executive Vice-President - Financial Markets, joined by members of his Financial Markets Management Committee, awarded a total of $30,000 to three students enrolled in a finance-related graduate program at a Canadian university.

"We continue to be impressed by the caliber of talented women who applied for participation in our Scholarship Program", said Mr. Pascoe. "This program, which we believe to be unique in Canada, speaks to National Bank's commitment to the development of talented and ambitious women who are passionate about pursuing a career in capital markets."

National Bank's program supports recipients while completing their post graduate degree and offers them an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the Financial Markets division at a major financial institution.

The three winners of this year's bursaries are:

  • Maryse Duguay-Patenaude, who will be undertaking a Master in Financial Engineering at HEC Montréal
  • Shikha Jain, who is currently enrolled in the Master of Business Administration program at York University - Schulich School of Business
  • Lauren Reid, who has been accepted in the Master's of Management of Innovation Program at the University of Toronto

Scholarship winners have been paired with senior professionals in the Bank's Financial Markets sector, who will mentor them during their studies. All recipients will receive senior level mentorship from Susan Monteith, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Client Strategy and People Development. In addition, Maryse Duguay-Patenaude will be mentored by Marjorie Skolnik, Director - Global Equity Derivatives; Shikha Jain and Lauren Reid will be mentored by Marjorie Nadeau, Director - Risk Management Solutions Group.
