July strong month for visitation, hotel occupancy, events and retail
MACAO, Aug. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sands China Ltd.( http://www.sandschinaltd.com ) properties were teeming with activity in July, enjoying high hotel occupancy, visitation and event attendance.

Visitation
July saw a record 5.6 million visitors to Sands China properties -- Sands(R) Macao, The Venetian(R) Macao, The Plaza(TM) Macao and Sands(R) Cotai Central -- marking a 34 per cent increase over the same period last year. A number of promotions and events were launched in July, accounting for the significant increase in visitation. Fists of Gold II was instrumental in driving visitation figures across The Venetian Macao, The Plaza Macao and Sands Cotai Central to over 200,000 on July 27, 2013 as compared to 133,000 on the same Saturday one year prior, marking a striking 55 per cent increase.
Hotel Occupancy
With Sands China properties featuring Macao's largest portfolio of hotel rooms at the broadest pricing available, July occupancies reached record levels, exceeding 7,500 rooms sold per day. Along with well-timed summer hotel promotions, several July events were instrumental in pushing occupancy rates to a record high: the IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) Awards Weekend, the Harlem Globetrotters exhibition basketball game, Fists of Gold II, and the launches of the DreamWorks Experience at Cotai Strip Resorts and Dinosaurs Live at The Venetian.
Exhibitions
Five July exhibitions collectively brought in nearly 120,000 visitors in total: the 6th Computer and Digital Products Expo; the 7th Home and Household Products Expo; the Japan Foods and Products Fair; the Macao Franchise Expo; and the China Jade Culture Festival.
Retail
Sands China's selection of 600 shops attracted over 4 million visitors in July at Shoppes at Venetian, Shoppes at Cotai Central, and Shoppes at Four Seasons, a robust 67 per cent year-on-year increase over July 2012.
With July's successes and a prosperous first half of the year behind it, Sands China still has several highly-anticipated entertainment events on the way to Cotai Strip Resorts Macao in the remaining months of 2013, including Rihanna Diamonds World Tour Sept. 13-14, JUSTIN BIEBER BELIEVE TOUROct. 12, and PACQUIAO VS. RIOS: The Clash in Cotai Nov. 24.
