Gatekeeper Expands License Plate Reading Product Line - New Contract with Rockingham County Schools

V.GSI

(via Thenewswire.ca)

Abbotsford, BC August 19th, 2013 Gatekeeper Systems Inc. (the "Company") (TSX.V:GSI) is pleased to announce the expansion of its license plate reading system to include a new multi-sensor infrared capability including dual plate and facial recognition capability. Rockingham County Schools has purchased the new multi-sensor license plate reading system to help deter stop arm violations.

The new camera has quad capabilities including bi-directional license plate reading, vehicle and driver identification.

In 2009 Rockingham County Schools student Nick Atkins was killed by a motor vehicle while boarding a school bus. Superintendent of Schools, Rodney Atwell, said, "Just knowing that is all the reason I need to put those cameras on those buses - you can't put a price on a child's life". Mr Atwell also stated, "pictures of suspected violations will be sent to the law enforcement agency with jurisdiction. The cameras run as long as the bus is operating and information can be downloaded as soon as the bus has returned to the school."

A recent study completed by National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services (NASDPTS) reported 15 million Stop Arm Violations in the United States annually. The fine for passing a school bus while the stop arm is engaged averages $250.00, with some Canadian Provinces having similar laws. There are approximately 550,000 yellow school buses in North America.

President and CEO Doug Dyment stated, "we have seen this problem escalating for several years now. Our vision was to develop a sensor system with technological bite. You can't deter this behavior without having a camera system that works reliably. Our 322 multi-sensor system can read tags or license plates at high speeds virtually 100 percent of the time". Dyment added, "we plan to automate the entire ticketing process with a new cloud based software application scheduled to launch shortly".
