Redline Communications Wins Comeback Company of the Year in Best in Biz International Awards

TORONTO, Aug. 22, 2013 /CNW/ - Redline Communications Group Inc. (TSX: RDL), a leading provider of broadband wireless solutions for machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, has been named the Gold Winner in the 2013 Best in Biz International Awards for Comeback Company of the Year. Redline CEO Eric Melka was also recognized in the Executive of the Year category.  The Best in Biz International Awards is an independent business awards program judged by members of the press and industry analysts.

The turnaround for Redline began in early 2010 when Melka was appointed as CEO and brought in a new management team. With a focus on customers and product innovation, the new team took Redline from 10 straight years of losses to $4 million in operating profits by the end of 2011. The Redline team refocused the company's R&D on ruggedized broadband wireless networking systems for industrial machine-to-machine (M2M) communications. This new focus, coupled with a major cost reduction program, translated into a positive top and bottom line, as customers with mission critical communications needs in energy, public safety, and military markets realized that Redline could address their very specialized requirements.

"Turning a company around isn't easy," said Melka. "We were able to achieve the turnaround because we have a dedicated team and incredible customers who all came together. To me, building a sustainable company is about building a customer-focused management team that can deliver on their plan - that's what it takes to win, and that's exactly what we did and will continue to do."

More than 150 public and private companies representing all sectors of the economy from more than 25 countries competed in the Best in Biz Awards International program. Winners were determined based on scoring from a panel of 43 judges drawn from top-tier news, business, finance, and technology publications and media outlets from 18 countries, with all continents represented. Best in Biz Awards 2013 International honors are conferred in a wide range of categories, including Fastest-Growing Company of the Year, Most Innovative Company of the Year, Best Place to Work, Technology Department of the Year, Executive of the Year, Enterprise Product of the Year, Small/Medium Business Product of the Year, Most Innovative Product of the Year and Film or Video of the Year.

Redline also announced that they have been named a finalist in the third annual HSBC International Business Awards in the category "Leadership in International Trade -Asia-Pacific".  The winner will be announced in November 2013.
