TORONTO, Sept. 5, 2013 /CNW/ - Bell Media is proud to once again partner with the Toronto International Film Festival© (TIFF) and confirm its commitment to playing a leading role in bringing Canadian stories to life. Through sponsorships, activations, and media coverage, Bell Media brands will have a strong presence on the ground during the Festival, including ETALK, Space, and E!

TIFF celebrations kick off tonight as Bell Media presents the Festival's opening night gala, screening of Bill Condon's highly-anticipated film The Fifth Estate as well as a star-studded after-party.

"TIFF is the most exciting film festival in the world and an exceptional showcase for filmmakers from Canada," said Kevin Crull, President, Bell Media. "Bell Media's partnership with the Festival speaks to our passion for film and our commitment to supporting Canada's creative community, nationally and on the world stage."

Building on the legacy of its movie services The Movie Network and Super Écran, and its production funds The Harold Greenberg Fund and Le Fonds Harold Greenberg, Bell Media invests $20 million in Canadian film annually. Fifteen of the feature and documentary films that have benefited from Bell Media support have been confirmed as official selections for TIFF, including Denis Villeneuve's Enemy, Don McKellar's The Grand Seduction, Michael Dowse's The F Word, and Xavier Dolan's Tom at the Farm (Tom à la ferme).

Additionally, nine short films funded by Bell Media's bravoFACT program will screen during the Festival, including Wakening, which has landed an unprecedented screening slot before the world premiere of The Fifth Estate tonight at the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre.

In addition, several Bell Media properties will be actively involved with the Festival and help promote the creativity of local and foreign filmmakers.
