Advanced healthcare technologies are needed for the payer, provider, and patient to succeed together. With this agreement, Inovalon will apply its advanced quality improvement and risk score accuracy analytics to Allscripts EHR Platform, improving the speed and workflow efficiency of data exchanges within the medical record process between payers and providers.
"Payers and providers increasingly enter into shared risk relationships to improve clinical and quality outcomes as well as financial performance within the broader healthcare environment," said Keith Dunleavy, M.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of Inovalon. "We are pleased to be working with Allscripts to bring these technological advancements to payers and clinicians across the country."
The combination of thousands of disease, diagnosis, treatment, and care considerations together with the expanding complexity of regulatory oversight, quality measurement requirements, reimbursement models, and healthcare organization structures has resulted in a significant increase in burden within the healthcare landscape. Today, payers and providers alike must maintain extensive resources and subject matter expertise in an effort to comply, let alone excel, in the current environment. Additionally, in order to substantiate performance and regulatory adherence with such programs as NCQA HEDIS® quality performance measurement, the CMS Five-Star Quality Rating program, and other federal and state-based risk score accuracy programs, providers and payers must support extensive medical record review initiatives. Through the integration of analytics and electronic medical record data abstraction, the integration of Inovalon's toolsets within the Allscripts environment decreases the burden for both the payer and the provider while increasing quality outcomes and risk score data accuracy.
"With the expansion of complex managed-care program environments, data-driven platforms have become increasingly crucial for all segments of the healthcare continuum," said Faisal Mushtaq, General Manager, Payer & Life Sciences for Allscripts. "Our collaboration with Inovalon provides payers with valuable insights and improvement capabilities so that they, in turn, can more effectively partner with providers to drive more efficient and effective care."
