Briggs & Stratton Significantly Expands its Backup Power Options for Light Commercial Applications

MILWAUKEE, Sept. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Committed to offering the light commercial business sector  reliable backup power options to meet their growing electrical needs, Briggs & Stratton now offers more than 60 different backup power solutions for its dealer network. The new offerings are specifically engineered and manufactured to thrive under the rigorous, heavy power requirements of commercial applications.

"Just as no two businesses are exactly the same, no two customers in the light commercial market need exactly the same backup power option. The industry needs more flexible and dependable solutions for commercial business owners," said Amanda Grandy, marketing manager for Briggs & Stratton. "This large product expansion shows our commitment  to offering customers a reliable, tailored solution that helps keep their business up and running in the event of a power outage – all from a manufacturer they know and trust."

Already a respected manufacturer of residential standby generators, the product expansion signals the company's intention to become the commercial sector's trusted name in backup power solutions.

Six differing voltage levels (120/240, 120/208, 139/240, 227/480, 277/480, 347/600), two configuration setups (WYE or Delta) and two controller types (ComAp InteliNanoNT or ComAp InteliLiteNT) are now available from Briggs & Stratton and can be used in conjunction with the 35-kilowatt1 (kW), 48-kW1 and 60-kW1 standby generator units. It adds up to 64 unique backup power options that are ideal for convenience stores, small grocery stores, restaurants or small offices. Capable of providing comprehensive power protection, these commercial standby generators help reduce lost revenue and allow small business owners to continue serving customers through a power outage.

The new offerings still come standard with the features and services expected by Briggs & Stratton customers. A four-year limited parts and labor warranty2 is one of the most comprehensive in the commercial standby power industry. A durable GM Vortec 1800 RPM engine is more fuel efficient and quieter than other higher-RPM commercial engine options, and helps ensure a neighbor- and budget-friendly operation. The weather-resistant enclosure made of Galvaneal steel offers years of outdoor protection. The redesigned enclosure also makes servicing the unit easier. Additional maintenance access points prevent time-consuming disassembly.

Advanced, worry-free monitoring is now available with the optional infohub™ wireless monitor. Using a computer, tablet or smart phone, standby generator  owners can instantly check their generator's system status from home or away. Owners are notified when maintenance is needed so the generator is always prepared prior to a power outage occuring.

The new Briggs & Stratton® generators will be sold individually and it is recommended that dealers pair the units with the GE Zenith transfer switch options also offered  by Briggs & Stratton.
