MONTREAL, Sept. 13, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Bell Media announced today the
appointment of Michel Houle as President of the French-Language Program
and Co-chair of the board of directors of the Harold Greenberg Fund, an
organization dedicated to supporting independent film and television
production.
Michel Houle is a leading figure in Canadian film and television. He has
served on the Harold Greenberg Fund board of directors and the
French-language committee for 11 years, and is regularly consulted for
his extensive expertise and understanding of industry issues.
"Michel's in-depth knowledge of film and television production,
distribution and exhibition make him uniquely qualified to take over
and pursue the Fund's mission," said Charles Benoit, President,
Television and Radio - Québec, Bell Media. "We are confident that with
the help of his outstanding team, he will fulfil the promise of the
Harold Greenberg Fund and its programs to benefit Canadian talent."
Michel Houle succeeds Rock Demers, the founder and president of
Productions La Fête and a prolific and internationally-recognized
Québec-based filmmaker. Mr. Demers was named president of the Fund in
1996.
"On behalf of the entire Bell Media team, I would like to thank Rock
Demers for his seventeen years at the head of the French-Language
Program of the Harold Greenberg Fund and for his invaluable
contribution," said Benoit. "His experience, wisdom and passion for
film and television allowed the Fund to constantly evolve and promote
independent production in Québec."
The board of directors of the Harold Greenberg Fund has 14 members drawn
from the film and television industry. The Fund operates two financing
programs - English and French - each with its own financing components.
The programs are respectively administered by a committee of seven
members of the board of directors of the Harold Greenberg Fund. All
members have the experience and skills required to assess financing
requests to the Fund.
