About the facility:
The North Battleford Generating Station is a 260 MW gas-fired combined-cycle facility located east of North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Owned and operated by Northland Power ("Northland") (TSX:NPI)(TSX:NPI.PR.A)(TSX:NPI.PR.C)(TSX:NPI.DB.A), the plant began commercial operations on June 5th, 2013. The facility will provide baseload and intermediate power to the Saskatchewan power grid under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Saskatchewan Power Corporation ("SaskPower"). The PPA was awarded to Northland following a competitive bid process initiated in 2008.
North Battleford is one of two Northland Power projects in Saskatchewan. The Spy Hill Generating Station, an 86 MW peaking plant, began operations in 2011.
