OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Sept. 24, 2013) - C-COM Satellite Systems Inc., (TSX VENTURE:CMI), the leading global provider of mobile auto-deploying satellite antenna systems, announced today that Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES) has qualified the new generation iNetVu® Ku 981 antenna system for use with Hughes HN/HX Systems.
The iNetVu® 981 mobile antenna is one of the new generation of auto-pointing antenna terminals which C-COM started manufacturing last year. The Hughes certification will allow the new antenna to be deployed on all networks around the world that use Hughes HN/HX Systems satellite equipment.
"This certification will further expand the addressable market for mobility services globally for both companies," said Arunas Slekys, vice president of corporate marketing and general manager, Russia/CIS region, "building upon the success to date of our platforms in over 18 countries, including the U.S., Canada, Chile, Colombia, Russia, Ukraine, South Africa, Kenya, Angola, Nigeria, Egypt, UAE, Kuwait, Malaysia, India, Japan, and Vietnam."
"The new 98cm auto-pointing antenna system has been designed in response to our customers' requests for a more accurate, lighter weight and lower stow height mechanical system. The added benefit of this product is that it requires no maintenance and can be easily upgraded to a Ka-band antenna by a simple swap of the feed arm," said Bilal Awada, CTO of C-COM Satellite Systems Inc.
"To date, over 1000 C-COM auto-pointing antenna systems have been deployed with Hughes provided modems and services around the world. The results of these deployments and the corresponding Hughes qualification demonstrate the high level of technological ability of the C-COM engineering team. We look forward to continuing to deliver many more advanced and highly reliable auto-pointing antenna systems coupled with Hughes equipment and services to our customers all over the world," said Leslie Klein, CEO of C-COM Satellite Systems Inc.
