AIKEN, S.C., Oct. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sam's Club will open its new club at 220 U.S. Highway 1 in Aiken County on Thursday, Oct. 3, giving residents and small business owners the opportunity to access incredible savings on quality products in an area rich with history and culture. The Club will open to the public immediately following a Grand Opening Ceremony at 8 a.m. on Thursday.

Local dignitaries will be in attendance at the Grand Opening celebration. In addition, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina offered his congratulations to Sam's Club on its new location in Aiken.

Club Creates 180 New Jobs, Offers Special Grand Opening Prices
The Aiken Sam's Club brings new jobs with career opportunities to the community, and surrounding communities, employing approximately 180 associates.

Bright, Environmentally Friendly Atmosphere
The new club features a shopper-friendly interior layout that measures approximately 136,000 square feet. That's big enough to fit two Aiken High School football fields inside, with enough products to have a celebration for the whole school.
As an innovative steward of the communities they serve, Sam's Club utilizes a variety of environmentally-friendly materials and energy-efficient fixtures, including several daylight-harvesting skylights that reduce the amount of energy required to light the store by up to 75 percent daily. LED lighting throughout the club, including in the cooler and freezer box doors and jewelry counter, operates 70 percent more efficiently than traditional fluorescent lighting.
Hearing, Optical Centers Among Amenities
The new club will include a Sam's Club Hearing Aid Center, offering premium technology in hearing aid and personal listening devices alongside the care of a certified audiologist, in addition to an Optical Center.
Other health and wellness benefits include the Sam's Club pharmacy, open to members and the public, featuring $4 and $10 on many generic prescriptions and extraordinary savings on branded prescriptions. Sam's Club will host free health screenings as a part of the Grand Opening, and will also host free monthly health screenings to help members take charge of their health through preventative measures.
