Verizon Wireless Launches 4G LTE Network In Watertown Area

VZ, VOD

WATERTOWN, N.Y., Oct. 8, 2013

WHO:

Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's largest 4G LTE network and largest, most reliable 3G network

WHAT:

Verizon Wireless activated 4G LTE technology on ten local cell sites last week, expanding the high-speed wireless network it started rolling out in the area over the summer and officially launching its 4G LTE network in the Watertown market.

4G LTE lets Verizon Wireless customers use their 4G LTE-enabled devices to surf the Web, post status updates and photos, share music, and download files at speeds up to 10 times faster than customers on 3G networks.

WHERE:

The new network is now available throughout the Watertown area and along the I-81 corridor. Additional local cell sites will be upgraded with the new technology over the next several months, expanding and filling in coverage further.

BACKGROUND:

Nearly three years after its launch, the Verizon 4G LTE network is available to more than 300 million people in more than 500 markets across the U.S, representing more than 99 percent of our 3G network.

The company has invested more than $65 million year to date to enhance and expand its network across Upstate New York.
