MONTREAL, Oct. 15, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - AECOM, a leading provider of
professional technical and management support services for public and

that it has been awarded a $CA2.4-million (US$2.3-million) contract by
Société Mauritanienne d'Électricité (SOMELEC) for an electricity
transmission and distribution (T&D) project.
The project, financed by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social
Development, entails providing the feasibility and engineering
front-end studies, tender documents and assistance to the owner for the
construction of 90-kV and 33-kV transmission lines and the associated
substations.
"Through this project, we will help the Government of the Islamic
Republic of Mauritania reach its objective of increasing the urban and
rural electrification rates and the energy offer through the extension
of the electrical network," said Damien Tholomier, AECOM's regional
energy business line leader in Canada. "We have put together a team of
highly experienced T&D professionals, and we are confident that their
talent and expertise will provide the expected results for this
project, which is important to the country's economy."
