Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) today announced that the Superior
Court of California, County of Fresno, has selected Tyler’s Odyssey®
court case management system to replace the court’s two existing legacy
case management systems into a single solution, thus streamlining the
court’s overall judicial processes.
The Fresno Superior Court sought a modern, efficient, reliable,
economical and proven case management solution that would handle all
case types. As a comprehensive court management system, Odyssey helps
eliminate duplicate data entry and simplifies access to relevant case
data for judges and other court operational staff. By streamlining
processes and enabling instant access to pertinent case data, the
Superior Court can more effectively serve the residents and judicial
community of Fresno County.
“Not only will Tyler’s solution take us from two very diverse,
cumbersome case management systems to a robust, highly efficient and
integrated system, in today’s environment of reduced funding and
shrinking staff resources we are certain Odyssey will be a welcome
relief to staff,” said Fresno Superior Court Presiding Judge Gary Hoff.
“While we wholeheartedly liked the Odyssey product, it was the return on
investment that sold us. Not only will the system pay for itself in a
matter of a few years, we will start to have cost savings in the second
year and sustained savings throughout the life of the system.”
After a comprehensive and competitive procurement process, the Fresno
Superior Court’s selection committee chose Odyssey because it is a
proven commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software solution that is highly
configurable; as such, Odyssey minimizes the need for customization,
thus enabling the court’s IT resources to focus on other critical court
matters. The selection committee also saw value in Tyler’s 30 years of
experience and track record of successfully implementing Odyssey in
county and state courts across the country.
The contract between Tyler and the Fresno Superior Court incorporates
all of the core court Odyssey applications, including case management,
public access, enterprise document management, financial management and
e-filing. Additionally, the court selected Odyssey SessionWorks®
Judge Edition, a powerful, electronic courtroom system that presents
judges with data digitally on the bench, as well as Odyssey SessionWorks®
Clerk Edition to aid in courtroom efficiency and support business best
practices.
“The Fresno Superior Court showed its commitment to serve its community
and enhance public trust and confidence in the administration of justice
by diligently searching for a proven solution that would unify case
management and streamline the court,” said Bruce Graham, president of
Tyler’s Courts & Justice Division. “The court also wanted to protect its
investment, and Tyler’s evergreen philosophy does exactly that by
including all future Odyssey updates as part of annual maintenance. We
are excited to work with the Fresno Superior Court, and we look forward
to a highly successful and long-term relationship.”
In total, Odyssey has been selected for use by more than 500 counties in
19 states, serving more than 75 million residents. Odyssey has been
successfully deployed statewide in Indiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire,
New Mexico, North Dakota and South Dakota; statewide implementations in
Maryland, Oregon, Rhode Island and Washington are currently under way.
