The index had gained roughly 6.0 percent in the past two weeks as lawmakers reached a deal to end the 16-day partial government shutdown and as concerns of the Federal Reserve curbing stimulus measures have eased. Data from the S&P Capital IQ has shown that approximately 60.0 percent of the companies that have reported earnings so far have exceeded analysts’ expectations.
The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA) shares traded in the range of $125.90 to $129.99 Wednesday before settling to close at $129.02, an increase of 5.34 percent. The stock appears to have some support at the $125.90, $123.83 and $119.35 levels. Shares of Boeing have gained approximately 70.0 percent year-to-date.

Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) shares traded in the range of $83.05 to $84.65 Wednesday before settling to close at $83.76, a decrease of 6.07 percent. The stock appears to be facing some resistance at the $84.05 and $84.83 levels with some support at $82.94. Shares of Caterpillar have fallen approximately 6.0 percent in 2013.
