Avnet Names Michael Buseman Chief Global Logistics and Operations Officer

AVT

Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), a leading global technology distributor, today announced that it has named Michael Buseman as chief global logistics and operations officer effective November 1, 2013. As announced in July, Avnet’s current global logistics and operations officer, Gerry Fay, was promoted to global president for Avnet Electronics Marketing. Buseman was selected to succeed Fay based on a strong background of more than 25 years of experience in the electronics industry. Having begun his career as a process and manufacturing engineer, Buseman is an accomplished operating and supply chain executive with global experience managing manufacturing and warehouse operations in the electronics manufacturing systems (EMS) provider space.

“With his experience in the fast-paced and highly competitive EMS industry that our Avnet Electronics Marketing operating group serves, Mike brings a very relevant and valuable perspective into our business,” said Avnet CEO Rick Hamada. “Mike is a high-energy executive with a focus on providing outstanding service that results in high customer engagement. Combined with his strong track record of success while building strong, high performance teams, I am confident Mike is an excellent choice for Avnet to further strengthen and leverage our global logistics and operations capabilities. I believe he will be a great addition to our senior executive team.”

Buseman joins Avnet from Plexus Corp, where he was executive vice president of global manufacturing operations. In this role, he ensured operational, fiscal and customer service execution, continuous improvement of performance metrics, allocation of capital, and integration of global operations. Buseman joined Plexus in 2006 as vice president of global technology, quality and facilities. Prior to Plexus, he was vice president and general manager of operations for contract manufacturer Celestica. He joined Celestica through its 2002 acquisition of Manufacturers’ Services Ltd, where he was director of operations, engineering and technology. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the College of St. Thomas, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from South Dakota State University.

As Avnet’s chief global logistics and operations officer, Buseman will be responsible for global warehousing, semiconductor programming, computer and integration center services, operations and global trade compliance. He will report to Hamada and be a member of the Avnet Executive Board.

“Avnet is a dynamic leader in global technology distribution with a strong culture of operational excellence and performance that includes a commitment to delivering an unparalleled customer experience. I look forward to applying my industry knowledge, and operating and supply chain experience, to build on this culture and deliver on our promise to accelerate success for our customers and suppliers,” stated Buseman.

To help ensure a smooth and seamless transition, Fay will serve in an advisory capacity to Buseman over the next several weeks.
