TORONTO, Oct. 29, 2013 /CNW/ - The Comedy Network announced today that
it is teaming up with entertainment legend Kevin Smith (Clerks, Comic Book Men) to deliver Season 2 of the no- holds-barred "movie revue" series, SPOILERS. Produced exclusively for Comedy in association with Smith's SModCo and Halfire-CORE Entertainment, Season 2 of SPOILERS stars the celebrated director/raconteur, and a group of movie lovers,
sounding off on the year's most anticipated blockbusters, while
breaking down their favourite (and not-so-favourite) scenes. The 10-episode, half-hour series starts shooting in Los Angeles in
December, and will have its world premiere on Comedy the same month.
Season 1 of SPOILERS made its Canadian broadcast debut on Bell Media's Space in the summer
of 2012 after launching on the channel's website. Guests of the series
included comic book legend Stan Lee; Princess Leia herself, Carrie
Fisher; actor/director Jon Favreau (Iron Man 2), and more.
"I'm ecstatic that Bell Media saw enough potential in SPOILERS to make
it a real live TV show for Comedy," said Kevin Smith. "I've always
dreamed of having Canadian parents and now I kinda do!"
"For many years, Canadians have had a special connection with Kevin
Smith, as has Bell Media," said Catherine MacLeod, Senior
Vice-President, Specialty Channels, Bell Media. "We're thrilled to work
with Kevin to bring the second season of the hilariously smart SPOILERS to Canadians."
A full-fledged DEGRASSI fanatic, Smith is no stranger to the Bell Media family having appeared
on several episodes of the beloved original series. And now, the
well-known Canada-enthusiast makes a much-anticipated return with SPOILERS.
Noreen Halpern (ROOKIE BLUE) is Executive Producer for SPOILERS. Jordan Monsanto is Producer. Associate Producers are Jason Mewes (TODD
AND THE BOOK OF PURE EVIL) and Jennifer Schwalbach (Clerks II).
