Jefferies announced today that the firm will contribute to relief
efforts to assist people suffering from devastation caused by Typhoon
Haiyan. Jefferies will donate $250,000 directly to organizations
providing relief efforts. In addition, the firm’s 3,800 employees
worldwide will be given the opportunity to donate to the relief effort
as they have done many times since 2001 in response to similar disasters.
These contributions will be allocated to The Red Cross with the goal of
immediately funding relief efforts directly involved in providing aid
and recovery.
“All of us at Jefferies are deeply saddened and concerned over the
effects of the devastating typhoon that recently struck the
Philippines," commented Richard B. Handler, Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer of Jefferies. "We hope our donation will quickly help to ease
the suffering of those affected, and we encourage our employees and
clients around the world to join our efforts to contribute on behalf of
those in need.”
