BENTONVILLE, Ark., Nov. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) reported today that Americans will pay $49.04 for a 10-person Thanksgiving meal this year. Walmart customers can get the same meal for $34.86, nearly 30 percent less than the national average.

"We don't believe families should have to compromise their holiday meal traditions because they are concerned about how much it costs," said Jack Sinclair, executive vice president of grocery, Walmart U.S. "Every day, we are focused on offering low prices to our customers and Thanksgiving is no different."
Customers can also shop with confidence at Walmart through the retailer's ad match programs, including Christmas Ad Match*. If customers spot a lower price before or after they've done their grocery shopping on any items, Walmart will match the price.*
A total of 167 volunteer shoppers from 34 states participated in the American Farm Bureau's informal survey this year. The survey asked shoppers to price out Thanksgiving staples including turkey, pumpkin pie mix, sweet potatoes, stuffing and other traditional ingredients. The products Walmart used in this analysis are comparable to items included in the Farm Bureau report.
