LP Names Canadian Oriented Strand Board Operations Director

LPX

Marketwire

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE--(Marketwired - Nov. 21, 2013) - Louisiana-Pacific Corporation (LP) (NYSE:LPX) has named M.J. "Mac" Palmiere as OSB regional operations manager, Canada, effective Dec. 2.

An industry veteran and British Columbia native, Palmiere will be responsible for overseeing LP's OSB operations in Canada; he will be the senior operations leader in the Vancouver office upon the completion of the Ainsworth acquisition as the business is integrated into LP.

"We are very fortunate to have someone of Mac's caliber and experience join the LP team at a time when our Canadian operations are becoming an even more important part of our business," LP Executive Vice President OSB Jeff Wagner said. "Mac has more than 26 years of experience in the forest industry, 16 of them in management, from mill manager to president and CEO."

Palmiere comes to LP from Howe Sound Pulp and Paper in British Columbia, where he has served as president and CEO since 2008. He previously worked as regional manager/vice president of operations at Canfor from 2005 through 2008. While with Canfor, he also served on the board of directors of Peace Valley OSB, a joint venture between LP and Canfor that LP purchased outright earlier this year.

Palmiere has a diploma in structural engineering from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Calgary.

LP currently operates five OSB mills in Canada and six in the United States. The Ainsworth acquisition will give the company nine OSB mills in Canada.
