Visualant Appoints Dr. Richard Mander Chief Technology Officer

Former Apple Technologist Leads Product Development and IP Expansion

Visualant, Inc. (OTCQB: VSUL), a leading provider of disruptive light-based technologies, announced today the appointment of Dr. Richard Mander to the position of Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Mander is being promoted to Chief Technology Officer by the Visualant Board of Directors in acknowledgement of his leadership in developing the Visualant ChromaID™ platform and expanding the company’s intellectual property portfolio.

ChromaID is a breakthrough light-based identification and measurement technology, with the potential to disrupt traditional spectral analysis and other costly methods of identification, authentication, and diagnosis.

Mander brings a long history of success in the development of products for the consumer and business-to-business marketplace. With a Ph.D. from Stanford focusing on innovative interface technologies, he worked for seven years at Apple transferring emerging technologies into successful products. Since Apple he has held a variety of senior roles in consumer electronics companies. In his most recent role he led the development of the award winning Contour action-sports camera. Over the last year, as Vice President of Product Management and Technology, Mander led the development of Visualant’s ChromaID Scanner and Software Development Kit which are designed to support developers who wish to explore and license Visualant’s ChromaID technology.

“Richard has done a first class job bringing Visualant out of the lab and into the marketplace,” said Ron Erickson, Visualant founder and CEO. “The ChromaID Scanner and Software Developer Kit provide everything a developer needs to explore and implement with our technology. Thanks to Richard we now have the product in the hands of inventors and potential users around the globe. Looking forward, I am excited to have Richard drive the advance of our technology through our recently announced partnership with Intellectual Ventures, third-party developers, and our scientific team led by Professor Tom Furness.”

“I am thrilled to welcome Richard into the CTO role at Visualant and look forward to working with him in advancing this amazing technology,” said Prof. Furness.

“ChromaID is a very innovative technology and I am excited to bring it to market,” said Dr Richard Mander, “It is truly exciting to see all the applications unfolding for this technology both by our developers and clients. I look forward to making Visualant’s ChromaID technology part of people’s everyday lives.”
