PTC
(Nasdaq: PTC) today announced that Vitamix is streamlining its
industrial design and engineering processes through PTC Global Product
Development. By using PTC
Creo® to develop new products, Vitamix is enabling faster design
decisions and aiming to cut product design times by 25% while still
manufacturing high-quality, innovative products. The company is also now
implementing PTC
Windchill® to further expand engineering and operational
efficiencies by enabling secure sharing of product information across a
highly distributed design team.

Vitamix
manufactures and markets superior blending and mixing products directly
to the public and the restaurant/hospitality industry. The company is
widely recognized among consumer product publications for quality and
innovation. A longtime PTC customer, Vitamix relies on PTC Creo to allow
its engineers to quickly and easily design new products with more
consumer-focused variants.
“It is all about efficiency in innovation,” said Greg Moores, vice
president of engineering, Vitamix. “I want my engineers and designers
spending their time designing the best blenders in the world – not
struggling with the design toolkit. PTC Creo is optimizing our design
processes while fueling new product development.”
Having an efficient and easy-to-use design solution has also helped lead
Vitamix to a point where it is strategically poised for new growth. With
the solid PTC Creo footprint already in place, Vitamix is now in the
process of implementing PTC Windchill. By adding PLM to manage the new
product development process, Vitamix is further driving its commitment
to manufacturing premium products with the highest performance and
durability.
“Incorporating PTC Windchill into our system to manage all product and
project data is our biggest strategic initiative in the coming year,”
added Moores. “As we look towards new innovations, our annual output of
new products is now going to be driven by PTC Creo and PTC Windchill. We
believe, with that pairing, that we can reduce time to market by 30
percent.”
“Vitamix is already a market leader, largely a result of their
continuous product innovation,” said Brian Thompson, vice president of
product management, PTC. “We are excited to work with them as they begin
to recognize the power of leveraging PTC Creo and PTC Windchill
together.”
