Alcatel-Lucent positioned as a leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Fiber-to-the-Home Equipment

Leadership position for both "Ability to Execute" and "Completeness of Vision" follows recent launches of new FTTX micro-nodes and EPON solution for cable operators

PARIS, Dec. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the "Leaders" quadrant of its recently published "Magic Quadrant for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) Equipment."[1]

In this Magic Quadrant, Gartner, a leading worldwide IT research and advisory firm, "analyzes the positions of 12 technology providers in a market that is growing in value, is consolidating with respect to vendors and is critical to the future delivery of broadband services."

Companies are assessed on "Ability to Execute" – covering aspects such as products and services, overall viability, market responsiveness and track record, marketing execution, and customer experience – and "Completeness of Vision" – concerning market understanding, marketing strategy, sales strategy, offering (product) strategy, business model, vertical/ industry strategy, geographic strategy and innovation.

Federico Guillen, head of Alcatel-Lucent's Fixed Networks business, commented: "As Alcatel-Lucent executes The Shift Plan – our industrial strategy to become a specialist IP Networking and Ultra-Broadband Access vendor – we continuously strive to bring service providers the best solutions, the best support, and the best options to meet their customers' ultra-broadband needs. Our recent launches of FTTX micro-nodes and an EPON solution for cable operators are the latest examples of this commitment and so we are delighted to be recognized by Gartner as a leader in their Fiber-to-the-Home Magic Quadrant."
