Each year, in lieu of a corporate holiday party, TeleTech supports a school in need by hosting a holiday celebration for the school's students and families. "We are committed to making an impact on one of society's most pressing issues - education - by dedicating our resources and expertise to schools and educational organizations serving students who demonstrate the greatest need," said Ken Tuchman, TeleTech chairman and chief executive officer. For the second year in a row, TeleTech is choosing to support the UPrep community. At the celebration, more than 200 TeleTech employees and their families will join the UPrep staff to bring the holidays to life. The festivities will include a holiday meal, games, face painting, crafts, family portraits, entertainment, gifts, and a visit from Santa.
Last year, TeleTech made a three-year commitment to UPrep, because the school's mission to educate and prepare every student for college aligns with TeleTech employees' passion for education. In addition to hosting "Spirit of the Season" at UPrep again this year, the partnership provides the foundation for additional educational initiatives, including monetary donations, technology, and volunteer hours. Activities and events include support for launching the school's first library, a Book Trust fundraising drive, reading campaigns, science lab enhancements, teacher appreciation luncheons, learning technologies, and teacher meeting spaces. The partnership will also help the school expand their curriculum to include fourth and fifth grades by the 2015-2016 school year.
"Thanks to TeleTech's generosity, UPrep scholars have access to technology that is usually only seen in a private school environment. Our scholars and their families really enjoyed Spirit of the Season last year and have been looking forward to it – it's such a great experience for everybody involved," said David Singer, UPrep founder and Head-of-School.
UPrep is a tuition-free, kindergarten through fifth grade public charter school in the Denver Public School district. Located near the Five Points community of Denver, UPrep believes that all students deserve an exceptional education regardless of zip code, race or socioeconomic status. Lead-Founder and Head of School David Singer, helps UPrep students focus on establishing a foundation to achieve a college degree beginning in kindergarten.
TeleTech and UPrep's philanthropic partnership was officially recognized by Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper when he proclaimed September 25, 2013 to be TeleTech and UPrep School Partnership Day in honor of the TeleTech and UPrep commitment to a better education for the students of Denver's underserved Five Points community.
