Medrano Elementary's 4th-graders will be awarded with a class celebration from Verizon Wireless for collecting the most used phones for HopeLine. HopeLine, a national program at Verizon, will recycle or donate the collected phones to domestic violence agencies. The students at Medrano competed against 12 other Dallas ISD elementary schools.
The competition was a part of the Blue in School program, which is supported by the Dallas Police Department, Verizon Wireless and CONTACT, a local crisis support organization. It's a four-week curriculum that provides life skills to 4th-grade students to help them navigate through life's difficult choices and become the leaders of tomorrow.
