NANOTECH
ENTERTAINMENT (OTCPINK:
NTEK) announced today the TV-U1, a hybrid TV tuner available as a
new option for NanoTech Entertainment’s soon-to-be-released Nuvola
NP-1™. The NP-1 is the world’s first streaming media player that
supports 4K Ultra HD movies and videos. By combining the TV-U1 TV Tuner
with the Nuvola NP-1, users will be able to enjoy broadcast TV channels
that will be automatically scaled to 4K resolution, which is four times
sharper than full high definition.

About the size of a flash drive, the new TV-U1 tuner provides consumers
with the brilliant sharpness offered by 4K Ultra HD by simply plugging
the device into the Nuvola’s USB port. In addition to delivering free
digital TV over-the-air (ATSC), NanoTech Entertainment’s TV-U1 TV Tuner
supports unencrypted digital cable (Clear QAM) channels and includes a
next-generation tuner for the high-quality reception of digital TV
signals and FM radio.
“Priced at just $99, the TV-U1 TV Tuner when added to the Nuvola NP-1
will provide consumers with a cost-effective alternative to paying for
cable or satellite TV by delivering a variety of network channels,” said
NanoTech CEO Jeff Foley. “For added value, the software bundled with the
new tuner also delivers the convenience of a fully-functional DVR that
makes it easy to watch, timeshift and record the broadcast television
channels.” An integrated Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) is included
that provides automatic station searching as well as the ability to
create favorite stations and schedule recordings for later viewing.
Unlike other 4K media players, the Nuvola is not limited to only playing
downloaded 4K content—it also streams content. When using the TV-U1 in
combination with the Nuvola NP-1, it does not require a personal
computer and it will work with any brand and any resolution of
televisions.
Priced substantially less than similar players, the Nuvola NP-1 offers
more features and more flexibility. For example, the NP-1 can be used to
decode 4K Ultra HD, HD, SD and 3-D movies in addition to playing
state-of-the art 3-D video games and a variety of Android apps. It can
also stream content from a variety of sources, including the bundled
UltraFlix™ Ultra HD channel, which serves 4K content over NanoTech
Entertainment’s streaming network. The Nuvola can also run other video
apps and services such as Netflix, Hula Plus, XBMC, Amazon Instant Video
and YouTube.
The NP-1 is powered by a NVIDIA® Tegra® 4 Quad Core Mobile Processor,
features 2GB DDR3 RAM, and incorporates 72 custom NVIDIA GeForce® GPU
cores to deliver enormous processing power and realistic graphics. In
addition to providing native 4K Ultra HD video support, Tegra 4 allows
the Nuvola to deliver ultra-fast web browsing, significantly improved
application load times and amazing gaming experiences.
Pricing
Available as an option for the Nuvola NP-1 streaming media player, the
TV-U1 TV Tuner will be available in early 2014 for $99. The Nuvola NP-1
4K Ultra HD Streaming Media Player comes bundled with 10 free videos
rentals in true 4K resolution, 10 video games and 5 multimedia
applications for $299. Shipped with a standard remote, the NP-1 is also
available with the optional Nuvola RP-10 remote that features a 3 axis
motion sensor for game play, handheld mouse control, and a full QWERTY
keyboard for fast and convenient on-screen text entry. Nuvola products
and options can be purchased at the Nuvola
website and from authorized NanoTech Entertainment dealers.
