UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation launched a new series of children's books aimed at empowering and encouraging young readers to overcome personal challenges. The first book in the "Oliver & Hope" series, "Oliver & Hope's Amusing Adventure," is available online for purchase at www.UHCCF.org (Photo: UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation).

The first book in the “Oliver & Hope” series, “Oliver & Hope’s Amusing Adventure,” is available online for purchase at www.UHCCF.org.

The 32-page, hand-illustrated book tells the story of a lovable bear, Oliver, and a spirited butterfly, Hope, encountering and overcoming challenges during a journey of imagination. “Oliver & Hope’s Amusing Adventure” is the first book in a series that focuses on the importance of resiliency, creative problem-solving and encouragement.

Proceeds from the sale of the book will fund UHCCF medical grants, which help families pay for children’s medical expenses not covered, or not fully covered, by a commercial health insurance plan. Since its founding in 1999, the UHCCF has funded more than 6,000 medical grants totaling more than $18 million.

“The Oliver & Hope series offers fun and inspiring stories for both parents and children, but just as important, proceeds from the books will provide financial support for families in need across the country,” said UHCCF President Matt Peterson. “Just as the characters are resilient in the face of challenges throughout their journey, that same sense of resiliency is what we hope to inspire among the children and families we are committed to helping.”

The Oliver and Hope characters host their own page on the UHCCF website, Oliver & Hope’s Clubhouse (www.UHCCF.org/oliverandhope), which features a free audiobook version of “Oliver & Hope’s Amusing Adventure,” activities, games, and an opportunity for children and parents to create a closer connection to these loveable characters, while being inspired in the process.

“Oliver & Hope’s Amazing Adventure” was written by Meg Cadts and illustrated by Samantha Fitch. Meg Cadts is the pen name for the UHCCF team of writers and contributors – represented by taking the first letter of the first name of each member of the eight-person team.

For more information and to order the book, “Oliver & Hope’s Amusing Adventure,” visit www.UHCCF.org. Shoppers can buy one book for $16.95; or for $33.90, shoppers can buy two books and donate one of them to a grant recipient, library or doctor’s office.
