The Dayton Power and Light Company Foundation has awarded 69 Community
Grants totaling more than $1.5 million to community organizations for
programs, capital improvement projects and program support. The grants
will go to several organizations in DP&L’s 24 county service area and
communities surrounding DP&L’s power plants along the Ohio River.
The grants support the DP&L Foundation’s philosophy of making a
difference for our customers and the communities we serve by
contributing to organizations that enhance the quality of life through
health and human services and heightening the impact of education, the
arts and culture. More than 200 DPL employees also volunteer their time
and talents in community organizations each year.
“For DP&L, it’s more than just being a good corporate citizen,” said DPL
President Derek A. Porter. “These Community Grants allow us to make a
difference for so many people by helping to create communities that are
engaged and vibrant and by supporting the health and human services
programs that allow people to uplift their lives.”
“The DP&L Foundation Board is proud to support these very worthwhile
organizations,” said DP&L Foundation Board Chairman Tim Rice, DP&L vice
president, assistant general counsel and corporate secretary.
Since the DP&L Foundation was founded in 1985, it has awarded in excess
of $29.5 million in grants.
For the first time, DP&L Signature Grants, aimed at supporting a new or
innovative program by a long-term partner in DP&L’s community efforts,
have been awarded to six organizations. The Signature Grants are
one-year grants. Each year, at least two signature grants – one for the
$100,000 plus level and one for the $50,000 plus level – will be
awarded. The recipients of this year’s Signature Grants will be
announced in January.
Among the Community Grants awarded are:

learning center
